The Scoop
Allison Barnhill – Owner & Designer
It all started with a wedding…
Having always had a passion for all things paper, Allison was inspired to design and create all of the paper accessories for her wedding. When family and friends started asking her to design items for their weddings and special events, she decided it was time to launch Handmade by Allison.
So, almost eight years ago, she waved goodbye to her first career as a consultant for a large information technology firm in Washington, DC, and said hello to Handmade by Allison. It wasn’t long before Handmade by Allison grew into a successful invitation and accessories design business, with wonderful clients all over the country and world.
With success comes change, so, in 2007, Allison moved her business from a small room in her home to a beautiful studio in Annapolis, MD. In 2009, Allison decided to reflect the growth and evolution of her business with a new name and a new look. So, Handmade by Allison became Allison Barnhill Designs.
Today, Allison spends most of her days in the studio meeting with clients, designing new creations and…tying bows. When she isn’t in the studio or curled up on the sofa with her laptop, Allison enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband, five year old boy/girl twins and Roxy, the pug.
Allie Kotler – Studio Manager
Allie came to Allison Barnhill Designs in 2006, while she was in the midst of planning her own wedding. What started as a part-time, evening and weekend hobby, turned into a full time profession. Allie is Allison’s right hand gal, and keeps the “presses rolling”, so to speak. As a client of Allison Barnhill Designs, you will definitely work with Allie during some part of the creation process.
When Allie isn’t up to her elbows in envelopes and cardstock, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She lives in Annapolis with her hubby and two adorable kitties.
Kaitlin MacCallum – Creative Associate
Kaitlin joined Allison Barnhill Designs in March of 2008, looking to gain experience in the wedding industry. With her upbeat personality and attention to detail, Kaitlin quickly became our go to girl for assembly.
When she isn’t assembling pockets or gluing rhinestones, Kaitlin enjoys reading, shopping and scrapbooking.
Amy Stevens – Creative Associate
Amy started with Allison Barnhill Designs early in 2009. Allison’s aunt, who is a long time friend of Amy’s mom, mentioned that the business was taking off again and could use some help. Since Amy already loved scrapbooking and creating her own invitations for friends and family, she thought it would be a great fit. She started out part-time, but we quickly realized that we needed her all the time!
Amy has been living in Annapolis for ten years and adores her six-year-old miniature dachshund. In her spare time, Amy enjoys hanging out with her family and friends and relaxing with her dog while reading a good mystery book.
